"A Little Pill Will Do You"
Be More Chill, which I reviewed last August when it was at Off Broadway's Pershing Square Signature Center, recently moved to Broadway's Lyceum Theatre. The show is practically unchanged and the matinee audience when I went had a sizable contingent of young theatregoers, which is always a welcome sight. (Ben Platt, recently of
Dear Evan Hansen, sat across the aisle.)
I'm raising my original Show Score from 55 to 70 because I came away even more appreciative of the talented company, each of whom displays exemplary comical, musical, and dancing skills. The staging and choreography remain entertaining, and the costumes are just as outrageously over-the-top, but the material, clever as it often is, and even with its sex and mild profanity, too often borders on banality. My views remain essentially unchanged so, if you wish to see my original review, please click on
THEATER LIFE.
